Meet the Filmmakers! Mural Documentary TOWN DESTROYER Screening and Q&A In-Person

Join a screening of TOWN DESTROYER - a new documentary about the furor over Victor Arnautoff's WPA murals at George Washington High School.  Filmmakers Alan Snitow and Deborah Kaufman will be present for a to talk about their experiences making the film and a Q&A.

TOWN DESTROYER explores how to look at art and history at a time of polarized national debate over the power of images, racism, trauma, and what should be taught in schools.  Imagery in the murals make reference to George Washington as a slaveowner and a man Native leaders called "Town Destroyer after he ordered their villages destroyed during the Revolutionary War.  After viewing the new documentary with us the filmmakers will share their experience of capturing the controversy and answer your questions.

Screening is in BLD 3, Room 148. The nearest free public parking lots are 1 and 6.
